Miami: Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova has pulled out of next month’s Indian Wells and Miami tournaments due to a lingering back injury that has sidelined her since November.
The world number 16, who claimed a surprise victory at Wimbledon last year, sustained the injury during the Tour’s Asian swing and struggled with it at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, where she reached the semi-finals.
The 29-year-old Czech also skipped the Australian Open in January, stating she needed additional time for recovery.
Organizers confirmed that Austria’s Julia Grabher will replace Krejcikova in the Indian Wells main draw, set to begin on March 5. The Miami tournament follows on March 18.
